#fivenightsoffright: I Want My Mummy (Night 4)

Hey Cuties!

So it’s night 4 in the #fivenightsoffrightseries, and I’m super excited to show this design to you guys! It’s a mummy design, and while mixing the white and brown to get the “dirty white” colour, it came out with a neat texture to add to the badge effect. I also used a glow-in-the-dark nail polish for the eyes, but I never seem to have luck with them. But if you happen to know or find a good one, use it on the eyes and mouth for an even creepier effect. Here it is!

Tools:
Nail Polish Colours : Black, Brown, “Dirty White”, Green
     Nail Art Brush
     Nail Art Dotter

Steps:
1.) Paint your nail “dirty white”. When I say “dirty white”, I mean a                     darker white colour. Mummy’s don’t keep their wrapping that white,            so you can either buy a “dirty white”, or you can do what I did and                mix white and a beige until I got a “dirty white” I liked.
2.) With your nail art brush and black nail polish, create the outlines of               the wrappings by painting lines horizontally across your nail. You                 can refer to the picture below to see how to paint them.
3.) With your brown, paint the top of the black lines. You should still                   see the dirty white “bandages”.
4.) Using your green nail polish and nail art dotter, dot two green eyes.               With your nail art brush, or continue with the nail dotter, paint a                   mouth, or a smile.

It’s a bit more of a technical design and more steps to it, but it’s totally worth it! If you find a glow-in-the-dark nail polish that actually works, post a pic on Instagram or Twitter. And don’t forget to share a pic if you try out this design or any of the other #fivenightsoffright designs.
Since tomorrow is the day this week’s designs have been leading up to, I may post the design early in the day for all of you going out tomorrow night. I also promise the last design won’t “suck”, so until next time, stay spooky!

#fivenightsoffright: Creepy Crawler (Night 3)

Hey Cuties!

It’s night three of the #fivenightsoffright series, and it’s getting creepier as the nights progress. Tonight’s design is a spider and web. It’s a bit more complex of a design than the previous nights and my usual designs, but not impossible!

Tools:
Nail Polish Colours: Black, Purple, Silver, White
     Nail Art Brush

Steps:
     1.) Paint your whole purple.
2.) Using your nail art brush and white polish, begin the web. I divided              my nail into a pie of eight slices, and then created the bends in                        between those lines. You can copy me and use a silver over the white            for a more glistening web, or you can leave it white.
3.) You can draw the body, and then the head. I clearly did a terrible job            on the anatomy of the spider, which I’m pretty sure you can do                       better!
4.) After you’re happy with the body and head, paint on the 8 limps, 4                 per side. I also added fangs? or I don’t know what you would call                   them on a spider. Or if spiders even have those things. I’m pretty                   sure that’s the reason this turned out more scorpion-like than a                    spider!

Pretty cool design and totally worth the effort! To put my special and signature touch on it, I added silver glitter to some parts of the web, it also makes it look like its catching some light. If you choose to add glitter too, don’t bother painting the whole web silver. I only did where the spider wouldn’t be covering, and I didn’t make the whole web silver. Also, if you're as mad as me with the anatomy, just do the web!

It’s the half-way point through the series, so that means there’s only two more designs left, and two more days til Halloween. Hope your costumes are ready! Until next time, stay fabulous!

#fivenightsoffright: Mischievous Pumpkin (Night 2)

Good Evening Cuties!

On this second night of #fivenightsoffright, I’ve designed a creeping halloween decoration that shall hopefully be lighting up walk-ways and homes this Saturday night; a pumpkin! But what makes this pumpkin so spooky is the look upon its face, and the curiosity of what is happening in its hollow inners…and on that creepy note, here we go!

Tools:
     Nail Polish Colours: Black, Orange
     Nail Art Brush

Steps:
1.) Paint your whole nail orange.
2.) With your nail art brush and black nail polish, you can either follow              my photos to re-create my mischievous pumpkin’s face, or you can                create your own.

Easy peasy pumpkin squeezy? Thought so! I originally tried to do the face with a nail art pen, but it came out rather sloppy and a lot less creepy. Any time I write a post, and in the tools section it calls for a nail art brush, feel free to use a nail art pen instead if you find it easier to draw with, and don’t forget the read the full post to find out what colours you will need.
If you try this design and/or do a different face on your pumpkin, post a pic in the comments below or on any social media (Twitter or Instagram), and don’t forget to tag it using the hashtag #fivenightsoffright. For a lighter (possibly more kid-friendly) version of this, you can use yellow instead of black and create a happier face for a more “jack-o-lantern feel”.
I hope you’re enjoying the series so far, and don’t forget to check back everyday to see a new Halloween post over the next three days leading up to Saturday night. Until next time, stay spooky!

#fivenightsoffright: Ghostly Fun (Night 1)

Hey Cuties!

This is the first design for my #fivenightsoffright series for Halloween. Just as an introduction to the series, #fivenightsoffright is five nights (or days) of spooky Halloween characters. So each day, over the next five days, I’ll be posting a new character design related to Halloween. Also check out yesterday’s Manicure Monday design of Halloween-based French mani designs.
For night number one in the series, it’s a ghost! Although ghosts are usually scary, this one has a more fun and playful side. Very easy, and a perfect last-minute, design for the week, or on Saturday night.

Tools:
Nail Polish Colours: Black, Pink, White
     Nail Art Brush

Steps:
1.) Paint your whole nail white.
2.) Using your nail art brush and black nail polish, paint a “ghostly                      face”, or something similar, or maybe more complex and cartoony?              than mine.
3.) For the “fun” element to this design, paint a pink tongue coming out            of the ghost’s mouth.

Super fun and easy. Tomorrow’s design is an innocent Halloween decoration turned…evil! Until then, stay spooky!

Halloween French Manis

Hey Cuties!

For this week’s Manicure Monday, I’ve once again chosen to do an updated French manicure, BUT with a Halloween twist! I’ve done three different designs: a skeleton, a pumpkin, and Frankenstein. Each design is super simple and only has two colours. Also with the Frankenstein mani, I’ve designed it to be asymmetrical for an even cooler effect.

Tools:
Nail Polish Colours: Black, Orange, Green, White
     Nail Art Brush

Steps:
Skeleton French Mani:
     - Paint your nail tip (or as much as the top part of your nail as you’d                 like), black.
     - Using your nail art brush and white nail polish, paint the end of a bone         from the middle of your nail to the end, and repeat in the opposite                direction on the other side.

Pumpkin French Mani:
     - Paint you nail tip (or as much as the top part of your nail as you’d                   like), orange.
     - Using your nail art brush and green nail polish, paint vertical lines                 from the bottom of the orange, to the tip of your nail. You can make             these lines as thick or as thin as you like, and you can paint as many             lines as you’d like.

Frankenstein French Mani:
     - Paint the top half your nail diagonally with your green nail polish.
     - Using you nail art brush and black nail polish, outline the green                     colour. Next, create “stitches” by painting black lines across your first           black line. Once again, you can make your lines as thin or as thick as              you please, as well as how many “stitches” you want on your nail.

Super easy and fun French mani designs for Halloween! You don’t have to use a sparkly orange like I did for the pumpkin, I just thoroughly enjoy having an excuse and a reason to use glitter colours!

If you didn’t already know, over the next five nights/days (starting tomorrow [Tuesday]), I will be posting nail designs of spooky creatures of Halloween, using the hashtag #fivenightsoffright. Posts will be going on Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr, so don’t forgot to check them out! So until next time, stay fabulous! (or spooky.)

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hey Cuties!

It’s October, so in Canada, as well as in other countries, that means it’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Although Breast Cancer has not directly touch me or my family, I thought it would be a touching way to spread awareness and show support to those who have fought the illness, those who are fighting the illness, and those who have survived the illness.

Tools:
Nail Polish: Light Pink, Dark Pink, White
     Pink Glitter
     Nail Art Brush

Steps:
1.) Paint your whole nail light pink.
2.) Using your dark pink, paint a ribbon off-centre or in the middle of                your nail.
3.) To add the glitter, use either a clear nail polish or your dark pink nail            polish, to the ribbon to give the glitter something to stick to. I                        suggest doing this over wax paper or tissue for easier clean up and                less mess! Sprinkle a bit of glitter over your nail until you have an                  even amount of glitter on the ribbon, or it’s to your liking.
4.) Outline the ribbon in white, using your nail art brush.

It’s a simple design and a fashionable way to show your support. I was hoping to do this the first week of October, but the schedule for the nail art designs got moved around for timing reasons. I hope you enjoyed this design as much as I loved designing it, and if you try this design yourself, or you have your own nailart for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, feel free to share a pic on Twitter or Instagram, tagging my handle @cutiecure, or better yet, leave a comment below!
Next week, it’s Halloween week, and I have a full week of designs planned for you guys, starting with #suddenlysunday, and right through to Halloween night! Until next time, stay fabulous!

Thanksgiving 2015

HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADIAN CUTIES!!!

And Happy Columbus Day to American Cuties. And Happy Monday to all the other Cuties in the world. In celebration of Thanksgiving, I drew up a turkey, because I can’t cook one. So after you’re done with dinner, instead of napping, try this design!

Tools:
Nail Polish Colours: Black, Brown, Red, Orange, Yellow, White
     Nail Art Brush

Steps:
1.) Draw a black horizontal curved line in the middle of your nail to                    outline the turkey’s head.
2.) Paint the bottom half of your nail brown.
3.) Paint the turkey’s feathers using your red, orange and yellow                          colours. I started with yellow and painted a few feathers by drawing              a straight line from the black outline to the tip of the nail, and then                I continued with orange, and then red, until the whole background                was covered in colour.
4.) Paint an orange triangle in the middle of the face for the beak of the               bird. I chose to paint eyebrows, eyes and painted small white dots                 for pupils.

A cute and fun design for turkey day. I’m starting to update the Instagram and Tumblr pages again, so you can also check those for some extra stuff as well as the regular #manimonday posts on here and Twitter. Happy Thanksgiving and until the next time, stay fabulous!

Suddenly Sunday: Post-Thanksgiving Dinner Painting-of-the-Toe-Nails (October 11th)

Hey Cuties! Another long week I’ve had. I don’t paint my finger nails that often, so like I said I was wanting to find an awesome neutral for them, which I did, and as weird as it sounds, it felt REALLY good! My fingers for the first few days after I painted them, were so relaxed. I don’t usually think painting my nails as relaxing as say, a massage or getting my hair done, but it was just so relaxing and it felt so great! It was the perfect way to start my week.
So now it’s this week, and it’s a short week because of Thanksgiving tomorrow. I had turkey dinner today (YUM!), so instead of taking a nap, I’ve decided to paint my toe nails…as I do every Sunday night. And as I’ve previously stated, this is really starting to help me relax and get my week off to a great start!

What I’m Drinking…Vanilla Chai Tea (Boathouse Farms, A.K.A.                                                         “everyday eggnog”)
What I’m Doing…finishing tomorrow’s post
The Colour of my Toes…First Kiss (Eve Snow London)

I have a Thanksgiving design for #manimonday, so don’t forget to check back tomorrow!

The Fall Tree

Hey Cuties!

It’s Fall! I’m super excited for sweater weather, hot drinks and colourful leaves. Speaking of colourful leaves, this week’s design is pretty cool (pun unintended?) and colourful. It’s a little more complex than the previous weeks, but is easy to follow. Let’s get started!

Tools:
Nail Polish Colours: Black, Brown, Orange, Yellow, Red
     Nail Art Brush
Nail Art StripingTape (I used 0.025” for the width)

Steps:
1.) Paint your whole nail black.
2.) Using the striping tape, cover a part of your nail to create a tree with            branches, NOT the outline   of a tree.
3.) Paint your whole nail orange.
4.) Once you’re happy with the colour/shade of the orange over the                    black, take off the tape. You   should now have a black tree with                      branches and no leaves.
5.) Using your brown, red and yellow (possibly a darker orange as well),            create falling leaves by   either painting small dashes, or dots, or                    blobs.

It’s a gorgeous and perfect design for fall. The only reason I used black is because I didn’t have a dark enough brown for the tree, so if you have one, use that instead of black! This design can also be used as an accent nail and paint your other nails orange, or you can do this on each nail and create a mini forest on your nails. Either way, everybody will fall in love with your nails (pun intended).
Next Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving, so prepare your turkey and prepare your nails for another awesome design. So until then, stay fabulous!

Suddenly Sunday: The Binge Watcher (October 4th)

Happy Sunday Cuties!

It was a pretty long week for me, so I’m so grateful for Sunday. All week I was searching for a good brown (for an upcoming design) and I started to become OB-sessed with finding the perfect neutral. I found one a thought might work, so instead of doing my toes this week, I decided to do my finger nails and try a neutral for the week.

What I’m Drinking…Peach Matcha (Davids Tea)
What I’m Doing…Watching ABC shows
The Colour of my FingersNeutral Statement 021 (Colorshow Maybelline)

I not totally convinced this is my favourite neutral, as it’s a tad too sheer for my liking. Back to the store for me, and back here tomorrow morning for you as I have the perfect autumn design for your nails. Have a great night!
